Q: What can I expect to happen at the Initial Evaluation and Consultation?
A: Your Initial Evaluation and Consultation requires two separate visits to our office. Plan to spend about an hour and a half on each of these two initial visits. When you come to the first visit, we will ask you to give us some information about your current health issues that will help us in your evaluation. Then at the same visit you will be taking a special health analysis called a Heart Rate Variability test that measures your state of physical fitness. Finally, we will do an initial Nutrition Response TestingĀ® analysis that will give us even more evaluation information about your health.
At the second visit, we take all the information that we gathered from you on your first visit and present to you a written Report of Findings and Recommendations. We will review that report with you and answer any questions and address any concerns you may have. Then, we make a determination about whether or not to go forward with a nutritional health improvement program. There is no obligation for you to begin a recommended nutritional program.
Q: After I start a nutritional program, how soon will I feel better?
A: Since every person has different health issues, and some are more serious and chronic than others, every person repairs at a different rate. And how quickly you make health improvement depends on how faithful you are to comply with nutritional recommendations. These include dietary recommendations as well as taking whole food, herbal or homeopathic supplementation. Following our dietary recommendations alone is 70% of your success. It is a key factor to your success.
Q: How much will a nutritional program cost?
A: After your initial evaluation and consultation, you will receive a written Report of Findings and Recommendations. We will go over this thoroughly with you and make sure you understand the cost factor. We provide a low-cost nutritional program, and we hope you will see a personalized health improvement program as an investment in your health and that of your family.
Q: Does insurance cover your services?
A: Typically, no. Since we don't diagnose, treat or prescribe drugs or surgery, health insurance plans don't cover what we offer. However, there are some insurance plans that have Health Savings Accounts or something similar which a person can use to pay for alternative health care, depending on what their individual plan allows.
Q: Are the nutritional products you recommend safe?
A: Yes. The foundation for our recommendations for a nutritional program is whole food supplements from many companies such as Standard Process. They are highly concentrated tablets or capsules made from quality, organic food. They are safe for anyone including children, older adults, and pregnant women. From time to time, we recommend herbal and homeopathic formulas to support your body's natural healing system. We make sure they test well on each individual to see if they are compatible.
Q: Do you work with vegetarians or vegans?
A: Although we appreciate this lifestyle choice, many vegetarians or vegans are not willing to take nutritional supplements that contain any animal products such as glandulars or components of the cell chromosome. Because we use Standard Process, which uses animal by-products for therapeutic purposes and for which many test well, it's almost impossible to avoid using this product line or find suitable vegetarian or vegan-based substitutes. If vegetarians or vegans are willing to take Standard Process supplements that may contain animal by-products, we can usually work with them. We have discovered that this lifestyle choice does not support the repair and rebuilding processes of the body.
Q: Can I get off my medications if I get on a nutritional therapy program?
A: Any discussion of your medications is between you and your prescribing physician only. It is completely outside the scope of our nutritionally-based practice to even discuss the subject of medications. However, if you and your prescribing physician decide to reduce or take you off any medications, we may be able to help support your health through nutrition so that it is easier to change your medication protocol. Beyond that, you will have to work with your prescribing medical doctor.
Q: Do you help children?
A: Yes. We love helping children (even infants and their moms) because they are so responsive to nutrition. However, we do have a policy that at least one parent must be on a nutritional program, too.
Q: Do you offer family discounts?
A: Yes. We want to make it as affordable as possible for parents and their children to receive this kind of healthcare. Depending on the size of the family, discounts vary. Typically, children 17 and under get a 50% discount on office visits as long as one parent is on a program. Children 18 and older are charged the office fee for adults.
